Zverev update on ankle injury not good

Alexander Zverev has taken to Instagram to share an update on his ankle injury – and it doesn’t look good.

“It looks like I have a very serious injury, but the medical team, the doctors, are still checking on it and we will keep you updated,” Zverev wrote in the post.

“It looks like I have torn several lateral ligaments in my right foot.

“I will be flying to Germany on Monday to make further examinations and to determine the best and quickest way for me to recover.

“We will let you know as soon as we know more.”

The 25-year-old twisted his ankle near the end of the second set of his semifinal with Rafa Nadal on Friday and was taken from the court in a wheelchair.

Zverev also congratulated Nadal in his post.

“I want to congratulate Rafa (Nadal) obviously, and incredible achievement, 14th final,” Zverev wrote.

“Hopefully he can go all the way and make some more history, but yeah, not an easy moment for me today, and I’ll keep everybody updated. See you guys.”
