Alexander Zverev hit a victory half-century on Monday as the Olympic Champion dispatched a local at the ATP event in Vienna.
The German ranked 10th defeated Sebastian Ofner 6-4, 6-1 at the 500-level indoor tournament to end a three-match losing streak.
He swept 10 of the last dozen games to conclude the 76-minute success story, defeating the Austrian for a third time, breaking four times and never facing a break point.
“I’m happy to be back to winning ways after the past two weeks, which were not very positive for me (opening losses in Shanghai and Tokyo),” Zverev said.
“I’m happy to be back in Europe, happy to be back in a German-speaking country. you always feel comfortable here straight away.”
Zverev improved to 50-24 on the season as he works to add another trophy to those he has lifted already in 2023 at Hamburg and Chengdu.
