Zverev happy with Sophia as domestic abuse trial looms

Whilst Alexander Zverev made it to the Australian Open semi finals, there is another court appearance hanging over his next Grand Slam appearance at the French Open.

The day before his first-round match in Melbourne Park, a district judge in Germany announced that Zverev will face a public trial in Berlin in May to answer accusations of physically abusing his former partner.

Zverev denies the allegation.

Fresh allegations against Zverev in relation to claims of domestic violence against a different ex-partner arose in 2023, with the 26-year-old ordered by a Berlin court in November to pay a €450,000 fine.

Former partner Brenda Patea alleged in an interview with a German newspaper that she was pushed into a wall and choked in May 2020.

Meanwhile his current girlfriend Sophia Tomalla is supporting him all the way from his player box.

In October 2021 Sophia started dating Zverev.

Talking of their relationship, Zverev said “Sophia is someone who gives me peace and security.

“I play extremely well with her in my back and I hope that will continue to be the case next year and maybe even get better.”

Sophia Thomalla is a German model, TV presenter, and actress from East Berlin.

In May 2010 she  won Let’s Dance season 3, German version of “Dancing with The Stars”
