Dayana Yastremska has been added to the list of positive COVID-19 tests in tennis, with the Ukrainian revealing her result in Dubai.
The WTA No. 29 who owns three career titles, said she tested positive several weeks ago upon arrival in the emirate for off-season training.
The 20-year-old who lost January’s Adelaide final to Ash Barty, revealed details on social media:
“Two days after arriving in Dubai, my COVID-19 test came back positive,” she posted. “I went into self-isolation and didn’t train for 2 weeks.
“The symptoms were very strange, it was bad! I’m fully recovered now and my focus is to go back training.”
Yastremska is among at least 20 ATP and WTA players to have turned in a positive test, with that list led by men’s No. 1 Novak Djokovic, who came up positive during his summer exhibition of the Balkans.
Also positive over the past eight months of the worldwide pandemic: Simona Halep, Kei Nishikori, David Goffin, Grigor Dimitrov and Fabio Fognini..
