Who will be missing from French Open?

The French Open will have some big names missing this year, some because of the COVID-19 pandemic, others because of injuries.

Here’s our list of some of the big names who will not be at Roland Garros 2020.

Roger Federer

Nick Kyrgios

The outspoken Australian is another absent from Paris – but for different reasons to Federer.

Kyrgios has spoken out many times about the pandemic and the need for safety and has written off his tennis for 2020.

Jo-Wilfred Tsonga

The player pulled out earlier this week due to a back injury that has sidelined him since the Australian Open earlier this year.

Juan Martin Del Potro

The Argentine underwent right knee surgery last month. His third major operation on that knee, which threatens to end his career.

Naomi Osaka

The US Open champion is still suffering from a hamstring strain and pulled out within hours of winning her second Flushing Meadows Slam earlier this month.

Ash Barty

The current world No.1 is probably the biggest loss to the event, but she has cited her concerns over travel re the COVID-19 pandemic. The lack of proper training has also affected the Aussie’s year at home.

Kim Clijsters

The two time French Open finalist has decided to spend more time with her family. Her career is at an end, and although hugely popular, was never hoping to be be a major on court threat.
