Vax status none of your business: Djokovic

World No. 1 Novak Djokovic has made it clear that he won’t reveal his vaccination status as he believes that’s a private matter.

“I don’t know if I will go to Australia, I don’t know what’s happening. Right now, the situation isn’t looking good,” Djokovic said.

Djokovic has come under fire from may quarters for nor revealing his status as Victorian State premier Dan Andrews confirmed only vaccinated players could be allowed to participate at the Australian Open in January.

“[Grand Slam] titles won’t protect you,” Andrews told reporters in Melbourne.

“The only title that will protect you is you being able to have had your first dose and second dose.”

Clarifying Australia’s requirements, Minister for Immigration Alex Hawke said foreign players would need to have had two vaccination shots to play the tournament.

“You’ll need to be double vaccinated to visit Australia,” he said.

“That’s a universal application, not just to tennis players. I mean that every visitor to Australia will need to be double vaccinated.”

Djokovic is set to return to action soon, with Filip Krajinovic confirming the World No.1’s presence at the Davis Cup Finals.
