USA beat GB in first round Davis Cup tie

Team GB and the USA battled for nine hours, starting on Wednesday and finishing their Davis Cup tie at 1am on Thursday, with the US winning the deciding doubles rubber in just under three hours.

Jack Sock and Rajeev Ram clinched a 2-1 tie victory for the Americans, defeating Andy Murray and Joe Salisbury, 5-7, 6-4, 7-5, in Glasgow Scotland.

Earlier in the Day Cameron Norrie beat Taylor Fritz 2-6,7-6(7-2)7-5 to keep the tie alive after Dan Evans lost the opening singles rubber 4-6, 6-4, 4-6 to Tommy Paul.

The USA top Group D with the Netherlands and will play Kazakhstan on Thursday just thirteen hours  after  beating The Brits.

GB will face The Netherlands on Friday in a must win match to keep alive their hopes of reaching the quarterfinal knock out stages in Malaga Spain  in November.
