Swede Mikael Ymer on Friday took his racquets and went home, with the ATP No. 80 throwing in the towel a month after being handed an 18-month suspension.
Ymer was sanctioned for missing three obligatory anti-doping tests in 12 months under the whereabouts rule which requires professional players to list their availability for an hour each day to facilitate surprise tests.
Ymer made the retirement call on social media: “I’ve decided to retire from professional tennis.
“I find their decision to try me again and subsequently find me guilty, unfair,” Ymer said.
The 24-year-old played his last match in July at Wimbledon, losing in the third round.
One-time no. 51 Ymer took his case to Court of Arbitration for Sport in Lausanne which ruled in favour of tennis bosses.
