Cameron Norrie is now toying seriously with the idea of sneaking out a  place in the eight-man ATP Finals in Turin after stunning the sport with his weekend Indian Wells title.

The new ATP No. 15 moved up 11 ranking places thanks to his victory over Nikoloz Basilashvili in the desert final.

And Norrie now dares to imagine a November trip to Italy if he can continue his positive momentum in his last three events of the season in Vienna, Stockholm, and the Paris Bercy Masters.

The British No. 1 stands provisional 10th in this season’s points accumulation but is really ninth with Rafael Nadal planning not to front up due to his continuing foot problem.

“It would be nice to make it, but I’m going to keep going, keep taking care of what I can and handling what I can,” he said. “We’ll see how it goes.

“I’m looking forward to the indoor season. I really like the courts. I’ve never really made a deep run in one of those tournaments, but I always play well. I always lose tight matches.

“Hopefully those can swing in my favour this year.”

Norrie remains gobsmacked by his prestige title in California.

“It’s amazing to be in the hunt for that this late in the year. Throughout the year I’ve been pretty consistent and been in the hunt with being in the top kind of 15 in the race.

“It’s not been a surprise, I’ve always had a good chance.”
