Tsitsipas won’t miss the Kyrgios curse in Perth

Stefanos Tsitsipas won’t complain about the absence of Nick Kyrgios at the United Cup starting on Thursday after the volatile Australian withdrew due to an injury suffered in an exhibition.

The ATP No. 4, who lost to Kyrgios in the Wimbledon third round last summer, would not have to face the controversial Aussie unless both teams reached the knockout stage next week in Sydney.

But it appears to be at least some reassurance that Kyrgios will no longer be in the mix.

“It is not a surprise, I hope he enjoys his holidays,” Tsitsipas, the main talent on the eight-player Greek side in the group stage in Perth, said.

The No. 4 said facing Kyrgios can be stressful for any opponent. “I don’t know where all of his energy comes from.

“There is so much of it, I don’t know how he does it. You cannot concentrate on your own game, there is so much noise coming from the other side of the net.

“It’s distracting, you have to be at your best to overcome it all.”
