Tsitsipas dropped Philippoussis to simplify life

Stefanos Tsitsipas said on Friday that he dropped Aussie Mark Philippoussis as a coach to try and simplify his life on court.

The fifth-rated Greek gave the boot to the Greek-Australian as he trims an entourage which in which his parents have top priority

“It can get quite kind of hectic having two coaches share opinions,” he said of the apparent clash between opinions from his father-coach Apostolos and former Wimbledon finalist Philippoussis .

“It was a mutual decision. We spent countless hours on the phone talking a few weeks ago. It’s never easy having two coaches on the court,” Tsitsipas added.

“I love Mark. He’s an amazing person, and we still stay in touch with him very often.”

Tsitsipas will hear only one voice as he begins the French Open on Sunday after reaching the final two years ago and losing to Novak Djokovic after leading two sets to love.
