Stefanos Tsitsipas overcame a mid-match hiccup to advance to the round of 16 inMiami with a 6-3 3-6 6-1 win over Japan’s Kei Nishikori.
Second seed Tsitsipas dominated the first and final set but midway lost his direction as Nishikori, slowly building his way back up the rankings after injury, took control.
But Tsitsipas regained control, thanks to two breaks of service before he closed it out on his first match point.
Lorenzo Sonego, the 24th seed, is next for Tsitsipas after the Italian defeated Daniel Elahi Galan 7-6 (8-6) 6-3.
