Toni Nadal: Alcaraz unstoppable – except by Djoko

Toni Nadal believes that Carlos Alcaraz is currently unbeatable by any of his Gen Z rivals, including Yannik Sinner and Holger Rune.

But the uncle and longtime former coach of Rafael Nadal tips old pro Novak Djokovic as the only ATP force that can possibly bring the 20-year-old Spaniard to heel.

Alcaraz showed his big game in fine style in Sunday’s Wimbledon final with a five-set defeat of the 36-year-old Djokovic.

But the elder Nadal does not necessarily believe the results will always fall to the same winner.

While Djokovic is still around, he’s a danger to Alcaraz, even if – as Nadal says – he Serb does not have too many years left.

Nadal voiced his opinion to Spain’s El Pais.

“Honestly, I don’t see any tennis player on the current scene, with the exception of Djokovic, capable of stopping Carlos’ unstoppable rise,” he wrote..

“Djokovic does not have many years left and I think that Spanish fans will have the opportunity to enjoy many more matches and celebrate many more victories on both hot and cold Sunday afternoons.

“Although it is true that the difference in age (16 years) gave the Spaniard a certain advantage, when we reached this fifth set I thought that certainly either of the two players could win.”
