Third time lucky for Raducanu in Miami

Emma Raducanu finally broke her losing streak at the Miami Masters on Wednesday with an opening win after two previous defeats.

The inconsistent Brit was all over Japan’s Sayaka Ishii, crushing the teenaged wild card 6-2, 6-1 in 65 minutes.

Raducnu’s latest coaching candidate was reportedly not in the stands according to social media posts, indicating that the trial run might have already collapsed after just a few weeks.

The 2021 US Open winner who has done little since is noted for rapid turnover of coaches..

Raducanu will next line up in the second round against tennis billionaire heiress and eighth seed Emma Navarro.

Raducanu called that match-up “an extremely challenging match.”

“She’s probably in better form, so I can go out and express myself and try and compete for every point.”

Raducanu’s two previous Miami showings resulted in quick exits, with losses to

Katerina Siniakova in 2022 and Canada’s fellow former Grand Slam champion Bianca Andreescu in 2023..

Raducanu dispatched no. 185 Ishii with six aces as her opponent produced 24 unforced errors..
