Thiem time for Rio

Dominic Thiem will a lead a strong line-up at the Rio Open ATP 500 tournament in Rio de Janeiro in February.

The event, from from February 14 to 20, will also see 2021 Wimbledon finalist Matteo Berrettini, Casper Ruud, 2021 Next Gen ATP Finals Carlos Alcaraz, Pablo Carreno Busta and Juan Martin Del Potro competing.
 
Thiem, who won the Rio Open in 2017, has been sidelined with a wrist injury since June and will not be at the Australia Open.

Berrettini will make his debut at the Rio Open, but Alcaraz will be there for his second appearance.

Former US Open champion Juan Martin Del Potro hopes to make another comeback at the vent after a series of knee operations.

“I have been training really hard. Some days are better than others, but always with the hope of coming back to compete early next year,” Del Potro said.
