Liam Broady, who captained team Great Britain at the ATP cup earlier this month, has just qualified for his first ever Australian Open main draw.

Broady is ranked 127 in the world and 28 years old, he’s steadily been climbing the rankings of late and now an Australian Open first round will help project him higher.

The Brit was seeded 10th in the qualifying draw, and defeated ATP Cup surprise star Roman Safiullin of Russia, who is ranked 146 in the world.

The match went to three sets, and the final score was 4-6, 7-6, 6-2.

Broady joins a list of 16 qualifiers, and his first round opponent is yet to be determined.
