French Open winner Iga Swiatek has been forced to quarantine after meeting Polish President Andrzej Duda who has since tested positive for COVID-19.
“Neither I nor members of my team have symptoms of coronavirus. Swiatek, 19, said.
“We carry out tests regularly. We will quarantine ourselves in accordance with current procedures.”
Swiatek met with President Duda on Friday, when she was awarded the Gold Cross of Merit for her achievements in sports.
Polish officials said today President Duda had tested positive for COVID-19 and was subject to quarantine but was feeling well.
Poland, like many European countries entering winter, is battling a recent surge of the virus.
