Top seed Iga Swiatek is ready to carry the title-winning confidence from last week’s Doha title in the current WTA Dubai event.

Poland’s world No. 1 added that she would be perfectly happy to keep up the Tour domination which earned her eight titles in 2022 – including Grand Slam trophies at Roland Garros and the US Open.

The 21-year-old will begin her campaign in the emirate against Canada’s former US Open finalist Leylah Fernandez in the second round after a bye.

Despite a slip last month as she exited in the Australian Open  fourth round against eventual champion Elena Rybakina, Swiatek has already bounced back.

She began that process with the Doha trophy on Saturday.

“I was playing really, really solid matches. At the Australian Open, I played against Elena, and she totally deserved to win. She went to the final later.”

She added that her training work after losing in Melbourne helped set up the Doha success.

“I really used the time properly; I could reset, focus just on working on
my technique and mentally re-set,” she said.

“I learned a lesson in my last match in Australia. I realise I have to energetically be there on court and run a little bit more, give more – in Doha I was able to do that.”
