Swiatek extends win streak to 10 on the trot

Iga Swiatek stretched her clay court winning run to 10 consecutive matches as she schooled Madison Keys 6-1, 6-3 on Tuesday at the Rome Masters.

The world No. 1 who claimed the title this month in Madrid, got the job done in Rome in 76 minutes to reach the semi-finals.

The Pole now stands two wins away from duplicating the Madrid-Rome title double achieved by Serena Williams 11 year ago.

The run of form puts Swiatek into pole position for a possible fourth trophy in five years at Roland Garros when the major starts on May 26.

At the Foro Italico, Swiatek saved all of her 10 break points and got to the serve of former US Open finalist Keys four times.

The win was a repeat of a loss the American took to Swiatek in the Madrid semis less than a fortnight ago, third win in the series for the Pole.

Swiatek is closing in on a fourth Rome title in five editions.
