Poland’s Iga Swiatek came back from a break down in each set to beat 2015 Indian Wells champion Simona Halep 7-6(6), 6-4 in their semifinal clash on Friday night.
Halep took an early 4-2 lead in the opening set, thanks to some superb forehand play but could not serve out the set at 5-4 as Swiatek came back to level it at 5-5.
In the tiebreak Halep took a 6-4 lead, before Swiatek again came back to level at six-all then a forehand winner gave her the lead and subsequently the set.
Halep won three straight games to take 4-2 lead again in the second, but Swiatek bounced back again to 4-4 with three straights games of her own.
She then served out the match to claim victory.
