Fifth seed No.5 Elina Svitolina laid on a comeback to knock out No. 9 Petra Kvitova 2-6, 7-5, 7-5 for a quarter-final place at the Miami Masters on Monday.
Double Wimbledon champion Kvitova got off a flyer in the opening set, claiming the lead through 16 winners before Kvitova began to strike back.
The Czech was unable to keep up the pressure though, with her opponent finally securing the victory 2-6, 7-5, 7-5 after two and a half hours.
Even 42 winners from Kvitova were not enough to stop the Svitolina juggernaut.
Seventh seed Aryna Sabalenka booked a place opposite top seed Barty with a win over Marketa Vondrousova 6-1, 6-2 in 67 minutes.
The Belarus winner is breaking new ground at the event after never passing the second round
