British No. 1 Emma Raducanu’s Wimbledon lasted three days as she was dumped out of Wimbledon 6-3, 6-3 by French veteran Caroline Garcia on Wednesday.
Raducanu became the second women’s top 10 seed to fall, Anett Kontaveit the other earlier in the day.
The teenager has been struggling with fitness since winning the US Open last year, hasn’t had a proper build-up to the event after suffering a hip injury at Nottingham and never looked in contention as Garcia managed the cross winds on centre court much better against the Brit, who is still battling to find the form of 2021.
She struggled with her serve, winning less than 50 per cent of the points on offer as Garcia aggresively took the game to her, winning the first set comfortably.
Raducanu did rally, breaking back from 3-2 down in the second set, but she was immediately broken again and was soon beaten in just under 90 minutes of play.
