Still no reveal on Djokovic vax status says Tiley

Novak Djokovic was included on the entry list for the 2022 Australian  Open sparking discussions that the World No. 1, who has yet to  publicly reveal his COVID-19 vaccination status, could receive a medical exemption to play.

Tennis Australia CEO Craig Tiley says “having your name on the main draw entry list does not mean a player will definitely attend”

The  tournament  director told the Radio 3AW morning show  that no medical exemptions have yet been granted for the Australian Open.

“It’s an automatic entry list based on your ranking,” he told listeners.

The list is scheduled to be finalised on December 28.

Tiley added “it’s really hard to say if Djokovic will play at the Open, but there’s no preferential treatment for any tennis player”.

“If he’s vaccinated we need evidence of that.

“If he’s not vaccinated and he has a medical condition he’ll have to go through the medical exemption process.

Tennis Australia has nothing to do with determining that.”
