Italian young gun Jannik Sinner sent out a warning to his Australian Open opponents with a 7-6 (4) 6-4 defeat of countryman Stefano Travaglia in the Great Ocean Road Open in Melbourne today.
The Italian, 19, becomes the youngest ATP player to win two titles since Novak Djokovic in 2006
Sinner was made to work hard by Travaglia, but her proved too powerful in the end, winning the match in just over two hours.
Sinner had to fend off several real chances from his opponent but when chances came his way he took them, earning four breaks himself too win the tie.
He will face a tougher opponent tomorrow in the first rgpiund of the Open in Canada’s Denis Shapovalov.
