Jannik Sinner scored his 20th win of the season and moved into his third semi-final at the Miami Masters on Wednesday as he defeated Czech Tomas Machac 6-4, 6-2.
The second-seeded Italian who owns 2024 titles at the Australian Open and Rotterdam, broke four times as he dominated at a venue where he finished runner-up in 2021 (Hubert Hurkacz) and 2023 (Daniil Medvedev).
“I played good, especially in the important moments; “I’m really happy to play again in the semis here.”
Sinner stands a solid 20-1 this season with his only loss coming to Carlos Alcaraz in this month’s Indian Wells semi-finals.
Machac finished with 31 unforced errors, with Sinner in the chase for his 13th season trophy.
He next faces either holder Daniil Medvedev or Nicolas Jarry.
“I’m just happy to compete,” Sinner said. “I made my first Masters 1000 final here, so I’m really happy to be back in the semis.”
