Schwartzman off to ATP Cup winner

Argentina got off to take perfect start at the ATP Cup on Saturday, with a 2-0 win over Georgia in Sydney.

Federico Delbonis won singles match, easing past Aleksandre Metreveli 6-1, 6-2 in 65 minutes, before Diego Schwartzman clinched the tie with a 6-1, 6-2 win over Nikoloz Basilashvili.

“I want to say Happy New Year for everyone who came and is watching,” Schwartzman said afterwards.

“It was a good start for me. I know him because we are the same age, but we didn’t play [before].

It’s the first time, so I’m happy to beat him in this way. Obviously I’m thinking about myself and I think my start and Federico’s start for our team, it was perfect.”
