Casper Ruud and Stefanos Tsistsipas were slotted into place on Wednesday to complete the team Europe lineup for September’s Laver Cup in Berlin.

The side led for the last time by Swedish legend Bjorn Borg will face off in the German capital September 20-22 against the World squad captained  by John McEnroe, also in his last season at the helm.

Ninth-ranked Ruud, a treble Grand Slam finalist, and No. 12 Tsitsipas will join teammates Carlos Alcaraz, Alexander Zverev, Daniil Medvedev and 22-time Grand Slam champion Rafael Nadal on the side.

Both Ruud and Greek Tsitsipas will be playing the event for a fourth time.

“Casper and Stefanos are experienced Laver Cup players who know what it takes to win points,” said Borg heading into the seventh edition of the competition.

“They have been part of some intense battles and have raised the Cup in the past. I am happy to have them on the team.”

Tsitsipas owns 11 ATP singles titles, including his third ATP Masters 1000 at Monte-Carlo this year; he has also played finals at Roland-Garros in 2021 and the Australian Open last year.

“I’m excited to be playing the Laver Cup again,” he said. “It’s an honour to be part of this team and to compete alongside so many great players.”

Team Europe won the first four editions of the Laver Cup in Prague 2017, Chicago 2018, Geneva and Boston; however, Team World reversed the tables at London and Vancouver.

McEnroe will count on Aussie world No.6 Alex de Minaur, plus Americans Taylor Fritz, Tommy Paul and Ben Shelton with two choices yet to be made.
