Casper Ruud has had enough of the falsehoods he says defeated opponent Holger Rune has been telling about an alleged post-match confrontation.
The imaginary locker-room showdown came after Norwegian eight-seeded Ruud dispatched the mouthy teenaged Dane to reach the French Open semi-finals.
Rune, who looked close to meltdown during most of his losing effort, later claimed Ruud yelled in his face post-match.
Ruud told Norwegian TV that the story was a complete fantasy.
“It has not really happened – it’s a big lie
“And it’s disappointing to be told lies about, it’s something I don’t want.
” What Holger says is wrong, it’s not what really happened,” the 23-year-old said. “We were in the locker room after the match and it’s obviously a big locker room
“We had our corner, I took an ice bath, we ate pizza and the mood was good.
We listened to some music and had a good time.
“Holger had his corner so I don’t know how he makes that into me screaming YESSSS in his face.
Ruud, who faces a semi-final against Marin Cilic added:
“He gets to have an opinion on me as a what kind of a tennis player I am, if I’m a fair player or not,
“But I won’t get into that as that’s his personal opinion.
“But to tell lies and make up stories – I hope it’s the last time he does that.”
