Top seed Casper Ruud hammered Roberto Carballes Baena 6-1 6-4 on Saturday to reach a second final this season with his Saturday victory at the ATP Bastad tournament.
The Norwegian kept Scandinavian title hopes alive with his win in 79 minutes. He will face off for the trophy on Sunday against Federico Coria, a winner over German Yannick Hanfmann 6-2, 6-1
Ruud, who claimed the pre-Roland Garros title on clay in Geneva, broke his Spanish opponent five times on his way to victory.
The No. 16 will be seeking his third career trophy.
“I played a very good first set, I’m very happy,” he said. “I started to get a bit nervous towards the end, playing the points too quickly.
“I’m looking forward to the final, the fifth of my career. I hope to make it three titles; I hope we can have some Scandinavian cheering.”
Ruud notched his 19th win this season on his preferred clay; he also reached Masters 1000 semi-finals on the surface at Monte Carlo and Madrid.
