Ruthless Muguruza set to meet Barty in final

Spain’s Garbine Muguruza clinically despatched No.8 seed Marketa Vondrousova 6-1, 6-0, in under an hour today at the Yarra Valley Classic to set up a final against World No.1 Ash Barty.

Muguruza has surrendered just 10 games this week in a near perfect build-up for next week’s Australian Open.

“I’m very happy for sure. I think I played well today,” Muguruza said after the match.

“My serve was working in the right moments and I felt like, since the beginning of the match, I could take control of the points.”
