Simona Halep’s marriage to a businessman appears to be over after less than a year, with Romanian outlet Fanatik reporting the WTA No. 7 is heading for a divorce.
The former top-ranked player married Toni Iuruc last September.
Halep left New York last week after losing in the first round of the US Open; she won the Toronto event last month.
The website quoted Iuruc: “We decided together with Simona to break up. This is my last word. (Proceedings) will be handled by the lawyers in the most civilised way possible. Thank you for understanding.”
The pair were together for three years and married on September 15, 2021, in Constanța in a beachside civil ceremony.
