Up to four players have been put into quarantine after testing positive for COVID-19 prior to the start on Monday’s French Open qualifying rounds, Spanish sports paper MARCA reported on Sunday.

The tabloid suggested that the best-known of the quartet could be Uzbek Denis Istomin while naming the other three as Ernesto Escobedo (US), Pedka Kristin and Bernabé Zapata, all of whom were missing from the qualifying draw sheet.

Quali players were due at Roland Garros on Thursday of this week for an initial virus test, with a second to be performed before the start of play.

France is experiencing a rapid rise of virus cases among the general population, with Paris a particular hotspot.
