The French Open will pay nearly EUR 50 million in prize money at the upcoming edition beginning May 28, with increases focusing on early round losers.

The clay court Grand Slam revealed the payout amounts on Friday, with just over a fortnight to go before the start of play.

Men’s and women’s champions will claim EUR 2.3 million each, part of an overall rise of just over nine percent from last year.

Roland Garros bosses have lifted the payout for losers in the first three rounds plus the qualifying tournament by a healthy 11-plus per cent..

The doubles and wheelchair events will also benefit from increased prize money.
