Reigning Roland Garros winner Iga Swiatek will delay the start of her European clay season, with the Pole skipping the WTA Stuttgart event next week.
Swiatek has decided to kick off her French Open run-up in Madrid from April 29.
The 19-year-old is also entered in Rome, which will now be played two weeks prior to the delayed May 30 start of the Grand Slam in Paris.
“Unfortunately I won’t play in Stuttgart this year,” she said in a statement.
“It wasn’t an easy decision but after a lot of discussion we decided that I need more time to prepare properly for tournaments in Madrid, Rome and Paris.”
