Emma Raducanu is due to end an injury absence of well over half a year with an entry into next month’s Auckland WTA tournament.
British media reported on Thursday that the 2021 US Open champion who has not competed since April, will ease back onto the Tour at the modest 250-level hardcourt outing in New Zealand.
Raducanu, whose ranking dropped like a stone since her triumph more than two years ago, now stands a distant 296th in the ranking and is awaiting a possible wild card entry into the Australian Open.
The 21-year-old – again without a coach – underwent surgery on both wrists and a knee this spring and has yet to return to action.
Raducanu is due to join another comeback rival in Auckland, with former Australian Open champion and world No. 1 Caroline Wozniacki also continuing a comeback to tennis after stepping away three years ago.
