Emma Raducanu on Friday blamed her right wrist injury for a BJK Cup withdrawal announcement which could decimate the box office at the Scottish host venue.
The major drawcard of the British game after winning the US Open in 2021 as a qualifier, Raducanu has never been a force since her career highlight performance.
The Londoner ranked 76th said she would not be able to join her national squad in Glasgow for the November 8-13 women’s equivalent of the Davis Cup.
She last competed at the start of the month, losing in the Ostrava first round.
“It’s disappointing to get the news from the doctors that I won’t be ready in time, particularly with it being on home soil,” she said.
“I tried to do everything possible to get it ready in time.
“Since my last tournament I’ve been working every day on physical training and rehab. I’ve got confidence in my team-mates and look forward to playing next year.”
Raducanu will now point towards a December 16 exhibition payday in Abu Dhabi..
The Brits will now have to patch together a BJK side from a nucleus of Harriet Dart, Katie Boulter and Heather Watson.
