Emma Raducanu may be considering playing Wimbledon cold after British media reports that she has yet to request an Eastbourne wild card entry.
The teenaged tennis hero who has yet to live up to her hype after winning the US Open from a qualifying start, is apparently poised to continue recovery work after retiring this month with a side strain after seven games played at Nottingham.
London’s ionline reports that Raducanu is considering giving Eastbourne a miss and has so far not requested a wild card.
“It is understood Raducanu was hoping that a few days of rest and even treatment in a hyperbaric chamber would see her able to get some more competitive match practice in on the south coast, but also does not want to rush back from injury and is set to err on the side of caution,” the outlet said.
Were Raducanu to go missing, the lineup at Devonshire Park would be thin on the ground.
Players who have already withdrawn from the last-chance Wimbledon run-up include No. 2 Anett Kontaveit and Top 20 competitors Jessica Pegula, Danielle Collins and Leylah Fernandez.
