Defending champion Emma Raducanu is working with Russian coach Dmitry Tursunov on her US Open preparations with the former Davis Cup player teaming up with her at the Citi Open in Washington DC.

Tursunov, a former world No. 20, has worked with a number of clients since retiring as a player in 2017, most recently Anett Kontaveit of Estonia.

He has also worked with Aryna Sabalenka, and with world doubles champion Elena Vesnina and Russian Aslan Karatsev.

US-based Tursunov, 39, will be charged with improving Raducanu;s tennis, rather than her fitness, where she has been working at the IMG Academy in Florida.

His last client, Kontaveit, has recently hired Torben Beltz, who was hired and then let go by Raducanu’s team in in April.
