Emma Raducanu is one of seven players nominated for the end of year WTA Player of the Year.
Raducanu created history by becoming the first qualifier to win a grand slam in New York in September.
Her amazing run at Flushing Meadows saw her win the crown without dropping a set, catapulting her to world fame and a top 20 ranking.
Earlier in the year Barbora Krejcikova, a successful doubles player, created her piece of history, winning the French Open at Roland Garros.
She also won several doubles trophies including the French Open and WTA finals.
Ranked 65 at the start of the year, Krejcikova ended the season at No.5.
Garbine Muguruza was another who blossomed the longer the year went on, overcoming early season injuries to take out the WTA Finals and end the year at No.3.
Naomi Osaka started off 2021 in great form, winning the Australian Open but then saw her season disappear with mental health concerns at the French Open. She missed Wimbledon and The US Open and will hopefully be back on your tin Melbourne in January.
Aryna Sabalenka was another who overcame some issue to finish the year in a strong position.
The Belarusian made deeps runs in the slams as well as winning her maiden WTA 1000 trophy in Madrid.
Iga Swiatek couldn’t match her amazing French Open win of 202o, but still finished the year in the top eight and at the WTA Finals.
Finally, still world No.1 Ash Barty won several WTA 1000 trophies, including Miami and Cincinnati, won a medal at the Tokyo Olympics and of course Wimbledon.
She missed the WTA Finals, as covid quarantine restrictions in Australia made it impossible to travel, but her lead was such that she still, finished the year in pole position.
