World No. 53 Sam Querrey has been fined $20,000 for breaking COVID-19 rules at the St. Petersburg Open in October.

American Querrey, 33, left Russia on a private plate after testing positive for COVID-19 and being told to quarantine in a St. Petersburg hotel for 14 days after the positive test.

The ATP said Querrey’s conduct was “contrary to the integrity of the game” under the Player Major Offence provision in the ATP Code of Conduct.

The fine has been suspended on condition Querrey does not violate any further health and safety protocols related to COVID-19 during a six-month probationary period.

Querrey has five days to appeal the decision.
