Iga Swiatek pounded out a 6-0, 6-0 win over Karolina Pliskova on Sunday to easily lift the Rome Masters title.

The reigning Roland Garros winner needed barely three-quarter of an hour to inflict the morale-sapping success on a Czech opponent competing in her third straight final at the Foro Italico.

Swiatek has built up a head of steam with her French Open title defence starting in a fortnight while Pliskova has to now puzzle through where her game has gone.

Pliskova managed to win just 13 points – four of them in the final game of the demolition derby.

Poland’s 19-year0old Swiatek has added a second clay title to her resume and takes a first-time place in the ranking Top 10.
