American Danielle Collins, who criticised Novak Djokovic for saying the proposed US Open safety protocols were too “extreme”, has been dumped from the World TeamTennis event for breaching coronavirus protocols.
“We have dismissed Danielle Collins after breaking our COVID-19 protocols and leaving The Greenbrier Resort and the state of West Virginia,” WTT chief executive Carlos Silva said.
“The protocols have been put in place and communicated numerous times to protect the health and safety of our players, coaches and staff which are of utmost importance to WTT.”
The three-week WTT tournament is one of the only sports events in the US that is currently allowing fans to attend.
Collins had been competing for the Orlando Storm before tournament officials confirmed she had been asked to leave the tournament bubble.
