The Paris Masters is in doubt after French President Emmanuel Macron announced his country was to return to lockdown after a steep rise in COVID-19 cases this week.

The Paris event is set to begin on Monday with qualifying opening on Saturday. Players are already there or en route, including Rafael Nadal.

The French Federation has already decided to close the event to fans, but news of more lockdowns may force to think again.

“Further government clearance is necessary,” the ATP told has its players.

The new policies, which will last until December 1, will allow schools to remain open but workers must stay at home unless necessary. Non essential business including bars and restaurants will be closed.

More news is expected on later today.
