Norrie fights back to beat Rublev

World No.28 Cameron Norrie who lost in the first round of the US Open, and dropped the first set against Andry Rublev in the San Diego Open semi-final came through in three sets 3-6, 6-3, 6-4

.He will face either Casper Ruud or Grigor Dimitrov in the Final.

In his post match interview Norrie said “This is a match I will remember for a long time – it is such a big win for me,” said Norrie.

“Andrey came out firing and played some big tennis at the start, but I managed to weather the storm.”

“I’m going to enjoy today, but I’m looking forward to tomorrow,” he added.

“It’s nice to get some revenge. He beat me easily last time, so it’s good to see I’ve improved a little bit,” said Norrie, who scraped only three games against Rublev in their only previous meeting in St. Petersburg last year.

Norrie will try to lift his second tour-level title Sunday, after winning his first in Acapulco earlier this year.

In a roller-coaster season, Norrie has a 41-19 record in 2021, and had lost five of his last six matches prior to this week.
