Jannik Sinner refuses to stress out after losing only his second match this season, with the world No. 2 ready to ease into action later this month at the Madrid Masters.
Sinner was partly done in by a faulty line call but shrugged off the error as he exited in the Monte Carlo semi-finals to Stefanos Tsitsipas.
Instead, the Monte Carlo-based Italian with three titles in his pocket this season will concentrate on polishing his clay game in the Spanish capital before a high-pressure home date in Rome followed by Roland Garros.
“I take the Madrid tournament as a preparation for Rome and Paris” Sinner said.
“I will go there without the objective of winning the tournament, winning one or two matches would be satisfying.
Sinner is not concerned over a knee problem which cropped up in the Monte Carlo semis, which he blamed on stress over the mistaken third-set line call.
“I don’t think it’s anything serious, I’ve played a lot of games and now I need to rest.”
