Four months after last playing a match before taking a break to heal foot and other injuries, Rafael Nadal has underlined that he is in no mad rush to return to the ATP Tour.
The 36-year-old is set to try his luck and test his form at mid-month in the Abu Dhabi exhibition event and will use a day or two of matches to determine his Australian Open programme.
The 20-time Grand Slam champion outlined his status after a month of training in Mallorca at a radio awards ceremony in Spain
Until I have everything 100% clear, I can’t say too much,” he said. “I don’t even know myself yet.
“Everything is being analysed, as the weeks go by. My idea is to return as soon as possible, but to return well.”
