Rafael Nadal has given little away regarding his return from a long-running foot injury, with the Spaniard revealing absolutely no details to his national media.

The 20-time Grand Slam winner, who has not competed since two early August matches in Washington, has been rehabbing at home ever since inside a strict blackout regime.

Of immediate concern is whether the 35-year-old will be fronting up for the Australian Open, which is likely to require a flight from Europe before Christmas onto the locked-down continent.

Nadal unloaded on Spanish press, dashing any hopes of insight into his recovery progress.

“I don’t know when I’ll play again. I work every day and follow a certain plan with a timetable and very clear goals.”

But he warned: “There are things that I won’t reveal because I can’t control everything one hundred percent.

“(I’m working) firstly to recover and secondly to be fully operational again when I have recovered.”
