As players and support staff begins to arrive in Melbourne today to prepare for the Australian Open, the Victorian State government has announced it had no new cases of COVID-19 on Thursday.
This is the eighth consecutive day the State has had no local or interstate-acquired case.
It also reported no cases in hotel quarantine and that there are currently 29 active cases in the State.
Meanwhile, a charter flight carrying tennis athletes and staff is scheduled to land in Melbpourne about 5pm on Thursday local time.
It will be the first of 15 incoming private flights in three days ahead of the grand slam.
All of the players are expected to be processed in airport hangars, away from prying eyes and cameras, before being ushered away to quarantine hotels.
