No alarm for Alcaraz after Paris exit

Carlos Alcaraz took his 6-3, 6-4 defeat at the Paris Masters without drama, with the Spaniard now concentrating on next weekend’s start of the season-ending ATP Finals.

The second seed lost his opening match to Roman Safiullin claimed his biggest career victory with the second-round upset.

“I just didn’t feel well on the court. There are a lot of things to improve, a lot of things to practice,” Alcaraz said.

“I didn’t move well. In the shots, I need to improve physically in the part of movement, I have to improve a lot.”

But the 20-year-old is far from giving up any hope for the season-ending event in Turin.

“I have time before the ATP Finals, a lot of days of practice to be able to reach that level, the level that I want to play.

“But it’s not the right time to talk after the loss.I have to take some time before thinking about the next days.”

And Alcaraz voiced the most frequent complaint from competitors at this time of the year.

“The season has been so, so long; probably that affect my game. This tournament has a lot of surprise.

“I don’t know, because if it’s the end of the season, players are tired? I have to figure out and I’ll try to the next years to be better in this part of the year.”
