Rafael Nadal has expressed rare public anger after rumours of upcoming wedding plans regarding his longtime girlfriend were revealed.
The ATP’s king of clay and long-suffering Xisca Perello have been together for more than a decade. When the couple finally do tie the knot, both remain adamant that their matrimonials will remain a private affair.
But Spanish gossip magazine Hola busted open the secrecy by publishing presumed details of what is sure to be the island of Mallorca’s wedding of the year.
Local boy Nadal told Diario Mallorca after exiting the Australian Open in the final against Novak Djokovic: “I’m not going to tell anything, it has bothered me a lot.
“I never report any of this (private matters) and I’m not going to do it now.
“You want to ask me about the wedding, right? I understand that you do your job, but I will not say anything.”
The leaked report named two of the wedding guests as Nadal’s good tennis friend and occasional doubles partner Marc Lopez and basketballer; no tennis rivals were named.
No date for the presumed wedding has been revealed..
